Save the USA -- Fire the GOP!

04/16/08 - Bruce Springsteen, in a reflective and sensitive letter to his fans, endorsed Barck Obama for President.

04/16/08 - As a Democrat, if you are thinking of supporting Hillary Clinton-SEE THIS VIDEO!!

01/28/08 - This was recently sent to me and I thought it accurately sums up the current Republican point of view of the state of the nation.

TO BE A REPUBLICAN YOU NEED TO BELIEVE:

      • 1.  Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary
        Clinton.
      • 2. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's Daddy
made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad guy
when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
      • 3. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with
China and Viet Nam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.
      • 4. The United  States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest
national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.
      • 5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multinational drug corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without
        regulation.
      • 6. The best way to improve military  morale is to praise the troops in
speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
      • 7. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
      • 8. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then
        demand their cooperation and money.
      • 9. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health
care to all  Americans is socialism. HMO's and insurance companies have the
best interests of the public at heart.
      • 10. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but
creationism should be taught in schools.
      • 11. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable
offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die
        is solid defense policy.
      • 12. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution,
which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet .
      • 13. The  public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George
Bush's driving record is none of our business.
      • 14. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a
conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your
        recovery.
      • 15.  Supporting "Executive Privilege" for every Republican ever born, who
will be born or who might be born (in perpetuity.)
      • 16. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital national interest, but
what Bush did in the '80's is irrelevant.
      • 17. Support for hunters who shoot their friends and blame them for wearing
orange vests similar to those worn by the quail.

10/3/07 - Well, today the President kept his promise, exercised only his fourth veto in six years, and deprived an unknown amount of children access to any health care at all. In his speech in Pennsylvania he said that the bill was moving to close to "Government run socialized medicine" and he thinks that is bad for the Country. Mr. President, if you are so concerned about Government run health care why have you not attacked Medicare? Medicare drug benefits (which you enacted)? Medicaid? Veterans health benefits? Surely those are Government run health care programs. I guess the difference is it is far easier to take it out on the children. Shame on you.

9/28/07 - I see that the Pentagon and the President have requested an additional $142 billion to maintain the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And, in the same breath, our President has vowed to veto legislation that would provide health care for another 3 million children who do not presently have any health care. His stated reasoning is that the health care legislation is just "too expensive". I suppose all one can make of that logic is that our President and his Party are more concerned with killing people in Iraq and Afghanistan than taking care of our most vulnerable citizens, our children. What Country do we live in?

4/19/07 - It is abominable that the the shooter of 30 students and professors at Virginia Tech is given his time in the spotlight by the media. Anyone who has committed such a horrorific act should never be given what he so obviously wanted, that is, his time in the spotlight. His name should never be mentioned again. Nothing in his package to NBC is material that should be made public; give it to the police and let them work up the profile to try to understand the carnage but making it public just sensationalizes this horrible, brutal act - NBC should be ashamed. I know I am.

11/8/06 - It appears from the election results that Americans are finally beginning to wake up to the Republican shenanigans. Maybe this is the beginning of a great, positive change in direction. What a great day for our Country!

9/30/06 - Doesn't this say it all about our present leadership in America? I am ashamed of our "leaders" and where they have taken the Country. This has never been my vision for the greatest Country on Earth. What do we really stand for today? Dori Smith at Backup Brain could not have said it better:

I just want to make sure I've got this right, so please check up on the following for me.
Republicans today, in 2006, believe that the following are:

Acceptable:

• Pedophilia by Members of Congress
• Conspiracy by Members of Congress to cover up pedophilia by Members of Congress
• Torture of anyone the President wants
• Wiretapping everyone, including American citizens, without a warrant
• Huge and increasing deficits
• Increases in the size of government
• Starting wars on little, no, or trumped-up basis
• War profiteering
• Cherry-picking intelligence data and other subversions of national security
• Outing undercover intelligence agents
• Government interference in private lives, such as medical decisions (including contraception, abortion, and end-of-life issues)
• Bribing journalists to produce government propaganda
• Voter intimidation
• Increased pollution
• Decisions based on pseudo-science and religious faith

Unacceptable:

• Habeas corpus
• Congressional oversight of the Executive Branch
• Judicial review of the Executive Branch
• Immigration of alien workers without whom the economy would fall apart
• Sex acts between certain consenting adults
• Marriages between certain consenting adults
• Abiding by America's treaty obligations, including the Geneva Convention
• Increasing the minimum wage
• Health care that covers all Americans
• Balanced budgets

And these people get votes… why?
