This guitar was a project a long time in the making. I wanted to make a guitar that looked like it was made in the early 1800’s but incorporated all of the modern features. So here you have it. A Tilton with a quilted maple back, a three piece maple neck, sitka spruce top and very unusual sides. The sides are solid wood made of maple and rosewood. The bridge and fingerboard are an obtuse type of rosewood which is very resonant. A sycamore Bay State Soundring® rosette with abalone trim insures there is no end grain exposed on the instrument.
Many of the early instruments featured this type of construction (multi-wood construction) so here is my take on it! The guitar is loud and very sweet sounding. I must admit that I never expected it to sound so good with the unusual wood combination and side material.
